We need your input!

Like most magazines, we spend a lot of time trying to think ahead. You'll be getting the August issue of ec soon, but we finished editing that one about a month-and-a-half ago.

Right now, we're hard at work on the October issue. With that in mind, we'd love if you could give us some feedback, thoughts, and—wait for it—quotes for an article we're planning about Halloween.
Our question(s) for you is simple: What are your thoughts on Christians taking part in Halloween. Is it a do or a don't? If you do choose to take part, how can you do so in a way that shines a light on Christ?

Sound off in the comments or tell us on Facebook. We'd love to include your quote alongside the article in the October 2010 issue of ec.

But you better act fast!

Personally, we have always participated in Halloween. We do not decorate or put out a pumpkin. We simple walk around the neighborhood in a costume collecting candy. As a child, we participated and I never thought much about it-except how excited I was to get the candy! If my children were over-weight, we may not. If our Church had an event (they have in the past but no longer do), we would go there! However, I want my children to know that we live in the world - although we are not OF the world. We hand out candy at our home-and offer the love of Christ to the children when they ring the bell (by smiling and giving them candy!).

I do not see any problem with Halloween itself. I feel that one should dress modestly (not in the skimpy costumes stores are so fond of) and think carefully about the reflection on their character the costume will present. Be polite and generous and have fun. Halloween is not an evil holiday as long as it is viewed from a Christian perspective.

I have always participated in halloween. my parents had a rule when i was a kid that i could where any costume i wanted as long as it wasnt overly scary! If you think about it, God wore "costumes" occasionally. He came to earth in the form of a man! He spoke threw a burning bush! If you're living the right way, he shows himself threw you.

I personally don't think Christians should participate in Halloween because of all the evil stuff like ghosts and stuff like that. But at most churches they have Fall Festivals that are on Halloween or very close to it. It's where kids can dress up and play games to earn candy. Halloween can be okay if you look at it from a Christian point of view.
